   "text": "Chef Takumi Hirose's Italian-Japanese cooking is why KI-NRT came, and in 2020 he ate dinner here four nights running: dashi in most of the sauces, and a cold capellini with tomato sauce and caviar he called divine. His December 2025 return found the menus short on imagination and heavy, though the tuskfish brandade opener was terrific and the Okinawan breakfast a high point. Hirose retired in March 2026 with no successor named."

   "text": "There is no onsen. Ishigaki has virtually no natural hot springs, because the geology does not favor them, and Okinawa's warm climate means bathing here leans toward showers over soaking tubs anyway, so the villa has an ordinary tub and shower at the far end of the hallway. The water feature is the private pool at each villa, pretty when lit up at night, though in a December cold spell (upper teens Celsius) lounging by it was not an option."

   "text": "Service was outstanding on KI-NRT's 2020 stay. With only five villas the staff is small and everyone but the chef wears multiple hats, so the person who checked them in later delivered breakfast, cleaned the pool and mowed the lawn. They were professional, courteous and eager to please, and a humidifier arrived in record time. His butler from that stay, Hiroya Hayakawa, has since moved to One Suite The Grand on Kouri Island."

   "text": "The five villas are white minimalist concrete, each laid out slightly differently by the terrain. Maani, the one-bedroom pool villa, is long and thin, so it felt tighter than its 60 square metres, and KI-NRT would have liked more generous space. The 100-square-metre two-bedroom Yarabu is squarer, so the living room feels brighter and more open, even if much of the extra area is the second bedroom. More wood might have added warmth."

   "text": "Jusandi sits on a remote plot on Ishigaki's north coast, with dense jungle all around that has been left uncleared, so although the nearest beach is a few hundred metres off there is essentially no sea view from anywhere. The white Mediterranean buildings have aged gracefully. A short jungle walk reaches a small secluded cove, the starting point for swims to the blue cave, but the north side takes fierce winds and December seas run rough."
