KI-NRT calls it unlike any other ryokan he has stayed in, with top notch food and aged buildings that are in very good shape while still exuding rustic charm, though he says it is not Gora Kadan, Ginyu or Beniya Mukayu. The January 2024 Noto earthquake left only minor damage, but the inn was last reported closed pending structural inspections and power, so check that it has reopened before you plan around it.",

   "text": "Meals are taken in a communal dining area, and only guests in the top room, Nami no Rikyu, have the option of eating in their room, which is what KI-NRT did. He had not expected the food to be on par with the very best in Japan and was pleasantly surprised: everything was top notch, if not as inventive or memorable as Gora Kadan, and it contributed to an overall great experience."

   "text": "KI-NRT calls the onsen very nice, with wonderful views of the rough Sea of Japan, and the property's long pool runs between the buildings and the ocean; he found the pool area beautiful and tranquil, and it is part of what gives the place its peaceful feel.    "text": "Most of the rooms are very traditional, in old Japanese structures, and all of them have incredible views, including of the sunrise over the sea. KI-NRT had half expected the place to be run down and in dire need of a refurbishment given its age, but it was in very good shape while still exuding rustic charm, which he calls a tough balancing act to pull off. The top room is Nami no Rikyu, the only one with the option of in-room meals."

   "text": "Lamp no Yado will make you feel as if you are at the edge of the world: it sits in an alcove below the cliffs at the very tip of the Noto Peninsula, looking like a small village from above, with wonderful views of the rough Sea of Japan. Non-guests are not allowed onto the property, adding to the exclusive feel. No rail lines run nearby, so you need a car, and with one you can see the Salt Village, rice terraces and samurai-era homes."
