"summary": "Twelve detached villas scattered through trees at the foot of the Suzuka range, opened in July 2020 as the annex of Aqua Ignis. Each villa is built around a single material (earth, stone, wood, lacquer, washi, glass, iron) with the art chosen by the ceramicist Koichi Uchida, every one has a free-flowing open-air onsen off a 43°C spring on its terrace, and two villas have added a hinoki sauna and cold plunge. Dinner comes from the Aqua Ignis restaurants a shuttle away. The Ikyu crowd gives it 4.67 over 85 reviews, with bathing and service high and the meals softer.",

Ikyu guests put meals at 4.48, the inn's weakest mark, for a specific reason: the kaiseki and the kappo draw superlatives, while the Italian and the thin breakfasts collect most of the complaints."

Ikyu guests put bathing at 4.76. Two villas, Kinotoki and Sekiro, now add a hinoki 'kupu' sauna with a hinoki or Komono-stone cold plunge on Suzuka groundwater. In winter the crowd has found the bath temperature running lukewarm."

Guests describe their car recognised before they have given a name, luggage carried, shuttles run on demand well before check-in, and again and again a complaint from one stay fixed by the next. A minority found the manner formal and without much warmth."

No two are alike, and regulars work through them stay by stay. Ikyu guests put the rooms at 4.69, and the recurring gripes are draughtiness in winter and visible wear in the older villas."

"text": "The villas sit on a quiet wooded parcel along a river at the foot of the Suzuka mountains, five minutes' walk from Kintetsu Yunoyama-Onsen and about an hour out of Nagoya, so the valley feels remote even though it is on a commuter line, with Mount Gozaisho above and Ise within a day. The one drawback is that the inn keeps almost no common space of its own, because dining, the large bath and the bakery are all over at Aqua Ignis."
