A 51-room Hoshino Resorts property built almost inside Unzen's steaming Jigoku hot-spring hells, opened in late 2022 with 16 rooms carrying a private balcony onsen. Nagasaki Joe stayed five months in on a breakfast-only plan (no dinner sampled) and found real strengths in the shared sulfur bathhouse and the breakfast kitchen, but called the room overly spartan and the exterior plain for a brand-new building. He judged it decent, though at a similar price he would pick the traditional ryokan next door instead.

Scores

Food 4 / 5

Nagasaki Joe stayed on a breakfast-only plan, so dinner is untested, and his short verdict on the breakfast was good enough that he counted it among the strengths of the stay. Nobody in the thread has described the dinner here.

Bath 4 / 5

The shared sulfur bathhouse was the highlight of Nagasaki Joe's stay, with real Unzen hot-spring water. Some rooms have a private balcony onsen, but he has not written about them.

Service 3.5 / 5

Nobody in the thread has written about the service here.

Room 3 / 5

Nagasaki Joe found his room spartan, and it was one of the reasons he would take the Kyushu Hotel next door at the same price.

Place 3.5 / 5

The building stands at the edge of Unzen's Jigoku hot-spring hells, next door to the Mt.Resort Unzen Kyushu Hotel, and Nagasaki Joe called the exterior drab. Nobody has written about the grounds or the interiors in any more detail.
